EBONY’s Black Music Month Freedom List

In the spirit of highlighting the liberation that threads through Black artistry, our “Freedom In The Present” list represents Black artists who influence music through their unique sound and choice of pathway—reminding all generations that music is meant to push the envelope. We don’t just create music for listening; we create it to feel. It’s not intended to be boxed in, restricted, dimmed, or compromised. It’s made with the intent to liberate and, most importantly, to celebrate. And so we did just that.

This is Black Music Month—a moment created to celebrate those who are actively leaving their stamp on today’s climate, penned by EBONY and curated by Jaconna Jacobs.
