Columbia County is getting a new emergency alert system beginning this week.

Hyper-Reach will be phased in to replace the current Code Red system over the next few weeks, so sign up soon to continue receiving alerts, according to information on the county website.

The service is free and gives residents the option to opt in or out of any of the alerts by phone and/or email. Alerts include severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, water outages, and road closures. The entire family can be signed in with one registration, and each phone can be set to the users alert preferences.

The register, go to https://signup.hyper-reach.com/hyper_reach/sign_up_page_2/?id=113127 .
