Flooding risk begins tonight as the dumping rain approaches

What we're tracking: Potential Tropical Cyclone One, soon to be tropical depression/storm Alberto, is expected to track WNW towards N. Mexico going into tonight and tomorrow. As this cyclone approaches the Mexico coast and accelerates, it will swing a large "blob" of very heavy enduring rain into the Texas Gulf coast overnight Tuesday night into all day Wednesday. Rain rates could reach 1-2 inches per hour with some heavier pockets of rain. Latest computer guidance is becoming in agreement on rain totals between 3-10 inches throughout the Crossroads with coastal communities seeing the brunt of the rain and furthest inland areas seeing nearer to 2 inches perhaps. In Victoria County, rain will likely accumulate up to around 5-7 inches. Currently, the Texas Coast up until Matagorda Bay is under a tropical storm watch as winds will gust up to 50 mph at times, storm surge will reach between 1-4 feet, and flooding remaining likely. A flood watch will be in effect for inland counties beginning tonight lasting until Thursday afternoon. However, after this tropical system is all said and done, our eyes shift to the tropics AGAIN this weekend as another circulation will be possible in the Gulf...
Next 24 hours: Scattered showers will be likely throughout the day today picking up greatly in coverage overnight into all day tomorrow. Rainfall will be very heavy tonight and tomorrow with garden variety showers for today. Highs get up to 90 today before dropping to a much nicer 80 with the near constant rain keeping us cool. Winds today will gust up to 30-35 mph at times increasing tonight into tomorrow. Gusts tomorrow could be as high as 40-45 mph at times with sustained winds between 20-30 mph. Rain totals could topple 10 inches in some coastal areas...
