SIOUX CITY, Iowa — As officials monitor the weather and Iowa Great Lakes water levels due to recent heavy rains the 5 mph rule will apply to all lakes in Dickinson County starting on Tuesday.

According to a release , Dickinson County Emergency Management held an emergency meeting on Monday where the commission voted unanimously to put the emergency 5 mph rule into effect until further notice. While the rule is in effect, boats are not allowed to exceed 5 mph within 600 feet of the shoreline so as to not create any wakes, as stated in the Dickinson County High-Water Plan .
