PGA Tour Caddie Makes Major Accusation About Bryson DeChambeau

    2024-06-18

The story of the golf world this past weekend was all about former PGA star and current LIV Golf League star, Bryson DeChambeau.

The 30-year-old Modesto, California native was the last man standing by a narrow margin at the 124th US Open, beating out Rory McIlroy. It came down to the wire for both of them, with McIlroy missing a three-foot putt on the last hole after he had already whiffed on a putt of similar distance on 16. Unfortunately for Mcllroy, he ended up going viral for watching DeChambeau win the tournament on a TV in the recorder’s hut, and for the second time in a row at this tournament, lost by a shot at the US Open.

As for DeChambeau, his win has been circulating the internet after his terrific save on 18 that saw him nearly make it from a nearby bunker, which set up a short putt for the win. However, his putter has been called into question by a well-known PGA caddie.

Kip Henley who was a caddie for Grayson Murray until last December took to the app formerly known as Twitter to call DeChambeau's putter into question.

"If I’m a player around the lead in the US Open I would ask the USGA to check the specs on this putter. The shaft has to lean away from head at least 10 degrees. It sure looks vertical. Not being a d*** or hate him at all but it is a rule," Henley wrote on X.

The accusation of an illegal putter led to fellow PGA tour golfer Andrew Putnam poking fun at Henley.

"Probably should request a driver equipment check too; he’s hitting it too far and straight. Also, drug test his caddie (Greg Bodine). He’s way too calm and having too much fun for it being a US Open," Putnam wrote .

Of all of the things DeChambeau addressed following the win, it appears this was not one of them. The win marks his second US Open title victory.
