PlayStation Productions' upcoming horror film adaptation of Until Dawn now has a cast. The film, being produced by PlayStation and Screen Gems, is being directed by David F. Sandberg, who has helmed big-budget features like Shazam!, Lights Out, and Annabelle: Creation.

As reported by Deadline , Until Dawn has cast its leads in Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion. That's half of the game's primary cast which included eight individuals, though it remains to be seen if the film will follow the same story as the game. It's a relatively younger, unknown cast compared to the game's leads, which included Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, Jordan Fisher, Brett Dalton, and more.

“At PlayStation Productions, we are always looking to find creative and authentic ways to adapt our beloved games that our fans will enjoy,” said Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, Head of Product for PlayStation Studios at SIEE. “Alongside Screen Gems, we’ve assembled a fantastic cast of new characters that builds upon our already stellar filmmaking team and their vision for the adaptation. We’re excited to reveal more about the movie soon.”

Until Dawn will mark PlayStation Productions' third feature film, following Uncharted and Gran Turismo. The company's film production arm is working on various adaptations of its popular console-exclusive franchises, including Ghost of Tsushima, Gravity Rush, an Uncharted sequel , and, reportedly, a Bloodborne film . PlayStation has also tasted success on TV with The Last of Us and Twisted Metal, with series adaptations of God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn in development.

However, this isn't the only Until Dawn project coming from PlayStation. Sony has hired developer Ballistic Moon to work on an enhanced remake of the original 2015 game. As shown during a recent gameplay showcase , the new Until Dawn remake will be released this fall.

The film is being written by Gary Dauberman, an experienced scribe in the horror genre with multiple films in the Annabelle and It franchises under his belt. Dauberman was also one of the creators of DC's Swamp Thing series, which was canceled after its first season.

Here is the official story description for the game, which will form the basis of the film.

When eight friends return to the isolated lodge where two of their group vanished a year prior, fear tightens its icy grip, and their mountain retreat descends into a nightmare with no escape.

Sandberg's last film, Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released early last year, but despite good reviews , failed to make an impressive dent at the box office.
