Nature is wild. These creatures are out here fighting to survive, whether they are hunting or being hunted. There’s no better place to see this sort of wild stuff than somewhere like Grand Teton National Park. It is home to a very healthy population of grizzly bears and lots of other animals too, like elk. Grizzly bears are a favorite for people to see, they truly are an amazing animal. They are at the top of the food chain wherever they live, reaching weights of over 800 pounds, and able to consume 20,000 calories in a day. These beasts get big and need to be able to find the food to feed them. It takes a lot of work, but they find it everywhere, using their claws, strength and bite to eat anything with a calorie... from berries to grass and roadkill, and their favorite... fresh elk. They're amazing to see at work and these folks got the full show in Grand Teton. Even if they weren't ready for it. A grizzly bear is seen starting to chase down an elk and her calf, splitting the calf away from its mother.
“Oh baby, don’t get that baby!” That is exactly what that bear is going to do. The bear takes it out as the crowd murmurs in disappointment. Wildlife guide Daniel Bradford describes the scene: "A crazy scene today in Grand Teton! A grizzly completed a successful hunt of an elk calf. Everything was over in less than a minute. These little calves are an important food source for bears this time of year. My client was having a moment so enjoy the audio of someone who was not prepared to watch an elk calf get eaten, which was completely understandable." Everyone wants to see wildlife... until it's time to see wildlife. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7z-ERCycjp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
