Casey Kasem’s Daughter Will Be Visiting His Grave For The First Time 10 Years After His Passing

Kerri Kasem will be in Norway to pay her respects to Casey Kasem ten years after his death from sepsis. The multi-talented DJ, radio presenter, and voice-over actor was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, and his wife, Jean Thompson, prevented his friends, family, and children from seeing him as his health worsened.

He eventually died at 82 amid legal battles between his widow and his children, who sued for wrongful death; however, evidence held nothing against Jean, and the case was settled in 2019. Kerri recalled that Casey passed away on Father’s Day and World Elder Abuse Day, making it an even more heartbreaking incident.

Kerri and her siblings, Mike and Julie, believe Casey was neglected and abused by his widow, Jean. Kerri went into more detail about the circumstances surrounding her father’s death via her Audible podcast named Bitter Blood. She accused Kerri of dumping Casey in the hospital to avoid being responsible for him and moving him around to cut off access to friends and family.

Jean denied the allegations of being abusive to Casey, noting that she was being attacked by those seeking financial gain from his estate. She added that Kerri is only driven by money and attention, which is why she is publicly defaming her. She also denied burying him in Norway as against his wish to be laid to rest at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn cemetery.

Kerri’s attorney, Scott Winship, noted that the deceased was unattended for a week and developed a stage 3 to stage 4 compression ulcer. Jean remained relentless and took Casey’s remains to Norway, where Kerri will now be visiting. The 51-year-old claimed her stepmother was verbally abusive to Casey even before his illness; however, he refused to leave her in hopes that she would improve.

Casey was working as the host of American Top 40 when he married Jean, who was 22 years younger. Kerri said Jean was pretentious before the wedding and would often act nice and generous until after the union when she began maltreating her father. Kerri is currently fighting for the cause of elders in society by collaborating with California senator Susan Rubio to pass a bill for elder care.
