Nintendo Direct 2024: Everything New Announced After Summer Game Fest!

Nintendo decided to take a backseat at Summer Game Fest 2024 without a standalone presentation, but at the final buzzer, they’ve released an action-packed Nintendo Direct 2024 today.

For the first standalone Nintendo Direct of 2024 (there has been a Partner and Indie showcase for 2024), Nintendo has decided to pull out all the stops (and all the trailers) for the titles they’ve been working on. While Nintendo fans have been getting slightly restless considering no news has been dropped during Summer Game Fest , today they’ve uncorked a 40-minute long vial of news for fans globally, including developments on the Metroid series and Mario & Luigi . This is everything new revealed at the Nintendo Direct 2024.

Nintendo Direct 2024 Announcements

Mario & Luigi: Brothership

A new Mario and Luigi RPG has been announced at the Nintendo Direct as an extension to the Mario & Luigi RPG series titled, Mario & Luigi: Brothership . This title embraces all the zaniness of the series and hilarity will ensue when it launches on November 7. This is notably the first release the series has gotten in nearly 9 years.

Fairy Tail 2

A new title following up on the latest arc of the hit anime Fairy Tail (and game of the same name), the newly Nintendo Direct announced Fairy Tail 2 features exciting turn-based combat and brings characters from the anime series to gaming once more. Fairy Tail 2 launches at a TBD date in Winter.

Fantasian: Neo Dimension

The Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi’s acclaimed Apple Arcade title, Fantasian: Neo Dimension is making its way from the smartphone and is coming to the Nintendo Switch this Holiday season.

Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball Update

Basketball is being added as a free update to the Nintendo Switch Sports title announced at the Nintendo Direct 2024. Up to four players can play at once, and fans can play online with a local player, in two versus two games. This update launches in the Summer.

MIO: Memories in Orbit – World Premiere

A new Metroidvania world premiere at the Nintendo Direct 2024 looks to embrace Hollow Knight ’s darker atmosphere. MIO: Memories in Orbit has released a teaser trailer featuring 2.5D gameplay and strong platforming sequences, which is expected from new titles in the genre. The release date is TBD.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports

A new Looney Tunes sports game has been announced at the Nintendo Direct 2024 called Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports . The zaniness associated with Looney Tunes comes in full force when it lands on Nintendo Switch in the Fall.

Farmagia

Farmagia , a new farming simulator/monster breeding title, has been announced, and it features exciting fusion summoning, farming, and much more. Farmagia launches on November 1.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

A port for the hit Nintendo Wii/3DS title, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD , has been announced for the Nintendo Switch at the Nintendo Direct 2024. All levels are included, including the levels created for the 3DS version. Return to the country on January 16, 2025.

Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD Remake

The previously announced 2D-HD remake of Dragon Quest 3 then dropped a new trailer featuring a release date with beautiful graphics reminiscent of Octopath Traveler . Return to the start of the Erdrick trilogy on November 14.

As a bonus at the Nintendo Direct 2024, they also announced Dragon Quest 1 & 2 to receive the enhanced pixel HD-2D treatment for next year. The entire Erdrick trilogy will be available in HD-2D on the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded Launches Today!

Nintendo Switch Expansion Pass Additions

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords and Metroid Zero Mission are coming to Nintendo Switch Online as part of the membership bonus. Those who subscribe to the expansion pass, however, will be able to play a duo of first-person titles with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Perfect Dark (both initially released for the N64), and these titles will be available for Expansion Pass members later today. It’s worth mentioning Perfect Dark includes online multiplayer, like Goldeneye 007 ‘s release.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

A new title in the Phantom Brave series is coming, and it retains its chibi art style. Fans can prep for over 50 characters and 300 skills to master and an unforgettable journey when Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero launches in 2025.

MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

The Nintendo Direct 2024 then revealed Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is finally coming back to consoles via a collection, and it will be released for Nintendo Switch! That’s not all, seven arcade classics, including X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER , The Punisher and more, are coming back to duke it out on Nintendo Switch. The MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics launches later this year.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

A new Mario Party was then announced at the Nintendo Direct 2024, and it’s called Super Mario Party Jamboree . Featuring five all-new play boards and two returning play boards from Mario Party & Mario Party 2, this is the biggest party of mini-games yet, with over 110. The party starts on October 17.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

A new Legend of Zelda game in the style of Link’s Awakening has been announced, and it’s from the Princess’s point of view. It is called The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom . Across the vast landscape of Hyrule, corruption has spread, and it has taken many Hyrule citizens, including Link! It’s up to Zelda and her new echo ability to rescue everyone and save Hyrule. Zelda can create Echoes of everything she finds on her adventure, including monsters, which allows Zelda to dish out a different brand of punishment to adversaries. It arrives on September 26.

A special edition Nintendo Switch Lite has been revealed for the occasion as well, and it features a triforce emblazoned on the back.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

It has been revealed that the Sony-exclusive and PlayStation Studios-developed Horizon series will be making its way to Nintendo Switch in LEGO form! Its coming Holiday season, 2024.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection

Two games featuring Miles Edgeworth, the prosecutorial adversary of Phoenix Wright has been announced, and one of the titles will finally make its way westward for the first time. The court date is scheduled for September 6.

The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-

Introducing a new game from the creators of the Danganronpa series featuring the same striking art style, The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- . Fans will be able to explore the school and protect it from mysterious enemies known as School Invaders for 100 days. The release date is ‘early next year’.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

A remake of the hit Romancing SaGa 2 title has been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch. Decision making will be key in driving the storyline forward, and full English voiceovers, complete with original and rearranged compositions by series composer Kenji Ito are in tow. The SaGa launches on October 24.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
