It always discourages me when people talk about travel as a young person's game. Sure, there's aspects of travel that are easier when you're younger, but as long as you're in good health and have the resources you need to get by, why let age limit your adventurous aspirations?
Despite Anneka Schweizer's "90 year old gay great uncles" both being of advanced age, the pair still share a passion for two things: traveling and wine. Anneka recently joined her "guncles" on a fancy trip to Bordeaux, France, and the energetic pair had the perfect take on their wine country adventure!
"We are now in Bordeaux, and we're going out for lunch, and we have a nice room, and we're gonna get drunk later," said @annekaschweizer 's 92-year-old great-uncle Don, who was ready to party! Jet lag who? Never heard of her. They were in wine country, and there was no time to waste- time to pop some bottles!

The senior tourists weren't just planning on taking things slow on their French vacation, either. A couple days after posting their "Hello from Bordeaux," the family shared another update from Paris , ready to take on the French capital with a trip up the iconic Eiffel Tower !
"We're up to the top of the world, or at least the top of Paris, and it's the same thing," cheered Don's 89-year-old hubby Lou, ready for the next stage of their adventure.
Great-Uncle Goals
From the eponymous birthplace of Bordeaux wine to the City of Lights in just a couple of days, and nary a trace of a wine hangover on them... how are these nonagenarians running circles around me energy-wise? I have to drink my weight in coffee just to maintain this kind of energy when I'm on a multi-destination vacation (especially when there's lots of wine involved). I'm a little jealous... and I wasn't the only one envious of their joie de vivre!
"Wait, like, I'm impressed they're still flying and traveling and drinking, what's their secret?" asked @rachellsays. I would also like to know, for research purposes of course...
"How do I show this to my future husband and say this is what I want," aspired @roadheathen.
While neither uncle came out with the secret to their shared longevity (at least not yet), the internet was thrilled to see the inspiring pair living their family vacations to the fullest well into their golden years.
"It's so heartwarming seeing older gay men being themselves, enjoying life, and being fabulous," @nickjmb warmly praised.
"This made me smile that you're treasuring your time with them," @anzyj addressed Anneka. "My uncles passed away before I got to do that one more time with them."
Having extra time to cherish with your senior relatives is a privilege that not everyone has, and to still be able to travel internationally with them at that age is an even rarer gift. These energetic great-guncles are goals, and I hope Anneka treasures every minute she has with them. I can't wait to see what swanky European locale this fun family is heading off to next!
