Fox News spent several segments on Tuesday covering comments by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre calling out certain news outlets for running out-of-context video to creative a dishonest narrative. That story led some of the co-hosts of Outnumbered to sound alarm bells over how CNN was going to conduct its presidential debate.

After playing a montage of MSNBC’s and CNN’s coverage of cheapfakes and deepfakes, the Outnumbered co-hosts and Fox’s Brian Kilmeade dismissed the criticism and accused the other networks of getting “talking points directly from the White House .” But it was the presence of CNN’s Anderson Cooper and his commentary, in which called the videos “selectively edited,” that was cause for concern for co-host Harris Faulkner :

Kilmeade: I remember Anderson Cooper, what he just said scares me for the debate, because he actually is saying that these are deepfakes. It makes me wonder what Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are going to be throwing at [former President Donald Trump ].

Faulkner: That is litigious territory where they’re going there. They better have some proof of that, because everything that [co-host Emily Compagno ] just showed the audience was unedited, pool-type video. As [co-host Kayleigh McEnany ] would know, she worked inside the White House, that they — they really — they better be careful with that. She softened it a little bit, KJP, with cheapfakes. But then there’s video of the deepfakes. I mean, got to be careful with that. That’s a felony.
