Rapoport reveals contract Aiyuk is looking for, says 49ers 'do want him'

Brandon Aiyuk made headlines Monday when he posted a TikTok with former Arizona State teammate and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. Aiyuk seemed to be talking about the 49ers and told Daniels, "They told me they don't want me back."

That seems extremely unlikely from the 49ers' perspective, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had a similar reaction to most people when talking about the subject Tuesday on The Insiders , in the context of what Aiyuk wants. He was stunned by the fact that Aiyuk posted that video.

"They do want him. They just want him at their price," Rapoport said. "It is not a negotiation, to my knowledge, that has been completely dead. They just haven't done a deal yet."

Remember, Deebo Samuel requested a trade before the 49er signed him to a monstrous, three-year extension worth up to $73.5 million. Nick Bosa missed all of training camp and racked up more than $2 million in fines for missing preseason games before getting a deal done.

Rapoport made it evident the 49ers and Aiyuk just haven't found the right terms yet.

"It's pretty clear that Brandon Aiyuk wants the kind of money that Amon-Ra St. Brown ended up making," Rapoport said. "The 49ers are not there yet. They like him, they really like him. They just have not been able to come together on a deal."
