Most parents don't expect their toddlers to be particularly excited about bedtime rolling around. Depending on their mood, kids might beg you to read an endless series of picture books or insist on multiple glasses of water or even throw a full-on tantrum to avoid going to sleep. You never know what kind of stunt they're going to pull!

In one recent video, a toddler girl's reaction to hearing it's time for bed definitely isn't what her mother was expecting...and all mom can do is laugh!

Of course, this little girl isn't the first tot to drop an f-bomb, but you've got to give her extra credit for attitude.

    Why Do Toddlers Swear?

To a toddler, a curse word is just a word like any other, and kids this age are still in the process of figuring out how words in general work , according to What to Expect. As your child begins to "understand the unique power of language ," a variety of factors might prompt them to curse. For one thing, they might be curious.

"Swearing at this age can happen because toddlers and young kids have an endless (and very normal) appetite for new words , even the ones that are R-rated."

Most of the time, kids are just copying what they hear and often don't know the meaning of what they're saying. Even if they do know, that doesn't necessarily mean they have the ability to filter their speech.

"Before the age of 5 or 6, kids have trouble censoring themselves. This means that if they hear a curse word or think of one, it’ll dribble right out of their mouths."

If parents freak out because their toddler swears, that often has the unintended affect of making them do it even more — just to see if they get a big reaction again.

"Younger kids may swear or use inappropriate language to see how far they can push boundaries and misbehave. Older children might say a bad word to show off to peers."

If you want your toddler to stop swearing, probably the best thing you can do is ignore them whenever they do curse. In all likelihood, they'll lose interest if they don't get the attention they're looking for.

Don't forget, you'll have to watch your own mouth, too...and that might be the hardest part of all!
