Thomas Jefferson Covington, a dedicated individual who devoted over 40 years of his life to the Richmond County Bank and United Carolina Bank, peacefully passed away on June 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.

Born on Nov. 24, 1933, in Richmond County, North Carolina, to William Jefferson and Mattie French Allred Covington.

His dedication to his country mirrored his commitment to his family and community. After retirement, he found solace in gardening and spending time outdoors at his homeplace — passions that brought him immense joy for the next 30 years.

Thomas Jefferson Covington is preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Shirley McFayden Covington. He is also reunited with his siblings Bob Covington, Sara Key and Ralph Covington.

Covington (Belda) and Dianne Covington McGreevy (Chris); stepchildren Richard Smith (Jane) and Branson Smith; grandchildren Lauren McGreevy Nisbett (Ted) and Katherine Grace McGreevy (Diego); great-grandchildren Rose Covington Nisbett, Teddy Christopher Nisbett and Jack Walton Nisbett.
