    Alzheimer’s Association to host community forum on dementia crisis in Prince George’s County

    The Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, in partnership with the office of Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and the Prince George’s County Department of Family Services, will host a community forum on Thursday, June 27 to address the growing dementia trajectory in Prince George’s County.

    Data released at the 2023 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) showed that Prince George’s County ranks fourth among the nation’s 3,142 counties for prevalence of Alzheimer’s in adults age 65+. This is the first time data on prevalence has been available at the county level.

    Walter Kirkland, founding president of 100 Black Men of Prince George’s County, will moderate the panel discussion, which features:

    Discussion topics will include:

    Challenges faced by individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia in this communitySpecific initiatives, programs, or services in Prince George’s County to address Alzheimer’s and dementiaNotable trends or changes in the prevalence of Alzheimer’s and dementia in Prince George’s County over the past decadeCultural or societal factors that may impact the understanding and management of Alzheimer’s and dementia in Prince George’s County

    The community forum will be held at the Prince George’s Ballroom, located at 2411 Pinebrook Avenue in North Englewood. A continental breakfast will be served. Participation is free. Registration is required. To register, visit alz.org/nca or call 800.272.3900.
