UNION, WV (WVNS) — Many locals gathered at the Monroe County Magistrate Court in Union on June 18, 2024 for the hearing of Rachel Berkrot.

Funding approved by the West Virginia Water Development Authority for five water and sewer projects in the Mountain State

Berkrot was arrested in connection with protesting the Mountain Valley pipeline on April 20, 2024.

A motion was filed to continue at a later date for the hearing. Among these locals were members of the “Greenville Grannies,” a group of grandmothers passionately opposed to the Mountain Valley Pipeline.

Nancy Bouldin lives in Greenville within sight of the pipeline. She has been against this project from the beginning.

“Well, I feel very badly about it. That it’s in and operational because it really shouldn’t be in operation. It’s a risky, untrustworthy pipeline project,” said Bouldin.

The Mountain Valley Pipeline spans approximately 303 miles from northwestern West Virginia into southern Virginia.
