Several Surry Community College programs were recognized for 100% pass rates among their students taking first-time state licensure examinations.

SCC President Dr. David Shockley recently presented Jim McHone, director, Law Enforcement Training and director of Center for Public Safety, and Barry VanHoy, BLET qualified assistant / Law Enforcement Training coordinator, with four resolutions of recognition from the SCC Board of Trustees.

The presentations were made during the SCC Spring 2024 Faculty/Staff meeting.

The recognitions came after the N.C. Criminal Justice Standards Division announced:

Additionally, Dr. Doug Underwood, director of Emergency Medical Programs and director of the Yadkin Center, was honored with two resolutions of recognition.

They honored him for the Emergency Medical Responder Class achieving a passing rate of 100% for first-time test takers; and the Emergency Medical Technician Day Class achieving a passing rate of 100% for first-time test takers.
