Flight Attendant's Awkward In-Flight Karaoke Sesh Is Pure Comedy

Being a flight attendant is a tough, exhausting, and oftentimes thankless job. Between dealing with flight delays, long hours, and awful passengers, it's only fair that attendants take whatever opportunities they can to cut loose and have a little fun while on the clock! That's usually good for the passengers, too, because a relaxed crew tends to lead to a less stressful experience overall.

But airplane intercom karaoke? That's a risky prospect, especially because unlike normal karaoke, there's a captive audience involved (some of whom may or may not be trying to sleep). If the flight attendant is a musical maestro on the mike, it might still end up being fun, but when they're not, well...

Wish we would of crashed instead. #flightattendant #cringe I have another recording of her butchering another song.. let me know in the comments if I should post it too

Uh... props for confidence, I guess? According to unwilling audience member Meek (aka @ratherbedeadthencool ), he was jolted awake from a nap by the attendant's bold rendition of "Let It Be" over the intercom, and he - as well as a few other passengers - wasn't pleased. The audience's response was hilariously mixed: while a few people whooped and cheered, at least one person could be heard telling them "No, no," as in "Don't encourage her, she might sing another!"

And sing another she did. Meek would eventually upload another in-flight karaoke video , this time with the attendant forcefully belting "Oh! Darling" (clearly, she's quite the Beatles fan). The audience was even more baffled than the last time, merely sitting in stunned silence afterwards.

Judging by Meek's quick glance out the window, the plane appeared to have been stuck in a tarmac delay , and I wouldn't be surprised if this was the attendant's well-meaning attempt at keeping her restless passengers entertained. A pamphlet shown in the first video confirms that this is Southwest Airlines , and their flight crews are known for frequently cutting loose and entertaining their passengers in unconventional ways. Still, maybe a round of airplane trivia would have been a better choice in this case?

    Hot Takes on In-Flight Karaoke

The karaoke sesh was rough enough for Meek to dub this "The Worst Flight Ever," and while that point is arguable, his horrified viewers on TikTok sympathized with his extreme reaction.

"I'm disturbed listening to this for 8 seconds in the comfort of my home. I can't imagine how horrific being trapped with it was," said @bumfuzzled2.

"Oh dear god that's a bit much," gasped @natrose.art.

    "I would've opened the emergency exit ," admitted @miss.anna.lee.

Things only got wilder from here, as at least one other commenter believed they may have crossed paths with this flight attendant before!

"WAITT I THINK I HAD HER AS A FLIGHT ATTENDANT TOO!" yelled @713ho. "Did she tell y'all she got the Golden Buzzer on AGT [ America's Got Talent ]?" For what it's worth, Meek said he couldn't remember anything but her corny jokes and her, um, distinctive voice, much less any mention of America's Got Talent .

Unfortunately, some commenters crossed the line from laughing at a very awkward situation to being cruel and calling for this woman's job, which I don't like. Being cringey or overconfident in your singing abilities isn't a crime, and I'm glad that Meek didn't show the attendant's face and expose her identity to the internet. That said, I do hope a fellow crew member eventually took her aside and gave her some advice about reading the room. You don't need to have Freddie Mercury-level singing skills to have fun at karaoke, but save it for karaoke night at the bar, not in a cramped airplane cabin with a captive audience!

If nothing else, at least these videos make a great case for noise-cancelling headphones!
