Gladiator II Release Date Gets Moved Up

Gladiator II will no longer compete with WICKED 's opening weekend, Collider reports, as the film has bumped up its release date from November 22 to November 15.

However, this will be in international markets only. North American audiences will still have to wait until November 22 to see Paul Mescal lead the charge in this highly anticipated sequel from Ridley Scott.

The news comes out of CineEurope in Barcelona, where Paramount put on a show and debuted new footage.

Variety says, "attendees were treated to some epic and never-before-seen extended footage featuring Mescal and co-star Pedro Pascal, alongside an as-yet-unreleased trailer."

CinemaCon-goers got the first preview in April, where the buzzy first reactions revealed that the film looks "incredible" and that "Ridley Scott is in top form".

The CinemaCon footage featured a "seriously ripped Paul Mescal" who was seen fighting Pedro Pascal "in front of a psycho Joseph Quinn".

What was shown to audiences at CineEurope remains a mystery, but Paramount's Mark Viane teased that the film will feature some of the "biggest action sequences ever put on film" as per DiscussingFilm.

Those outside the United States and Canada will get the first preview when the film hits theaters on November 15.
