MSNBC Host Nicolle Wallace Says Trump Is Preparing ‘A Hostile Takeover’ To Turn DOJ Into ‘Political Weapon’

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace claimed on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump was preparing “a hostile takeover” to turn the Department of Justice into a “political weapon” should he win the election against President Joe Biden in November.

After playing a clip of Trump accusing Biden and his allies of having “weaponized the Department of Justice” against him, Wallace said:

No, they didn’t. Trump committed a crime and the people who helped him do so, some of them went to jail, some of them received immunity, they testified, and a jury of his peers convicted him. He’s held accountable by a local prosecutor who worked completely independently of the Department of Justice. Full stop.

But where you or I might just dismiss this as a campaign speech, MAGA disinfo, riling up the base as just that, Trump’s supporters hear those words, accept them as fact, and with January 6 as an example, are open to acting violently.

The MSNBC host claimed, “It’s how Trump and his allies are today priming Trump’s supporters for what will be nothing less than a hostile takeover of the Department of Justice should Trump prevail in November, turning around the very instruments used to keep Trump in check into political weapons. And don’t take our word for it; they’re saying it out loud.”

In April, Wallace suggested that Trump could take her off the air if he wins a second term in the White House.

“This time next year I might not be sitting here,” she said. “There might not be a White House Correspondents’ Dinner or free press.”

Fellow MSNBC host Rachel Maddow made similar remarks his month, telling CNN senior media reporter Oliver Darcy she was “worried” about Trump potentially seeking revenge against his critics in the media during a second term.

“What convinces you that these massive camps he’s planning are only for migrants?” she questioned. “So, yes, I’m worried about me — but only as much as I’m worried about all of us.”
