Storm Team Weather Alert: Hot and humid with scattered showers

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert that will continue through Friday for excessive heat.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for all of western Massachusetts until Friday evening for Heat Index values around 95 to 105 degrees.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Franklin County until 8:00 p.m. due to the chance of thunderstorms developing with strong winds and hail.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Thursday for eastern Hampden and Hampshire Counties. Air quality may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

The excessive heat and humidity will continue today with temperatures climbing into the upper mid and upper 90s on Thursday. The heat Index will make it feel like it’s around 100 degrees.

There is a chance for a shower or thunderstorm Thursday afternoon. Thursday night will be another warm and muggy night with lows around 70. There will be the chance for scattered showers and storms in the evening otherwise skies will be mostly cloudy.
