FOND DU LAC COUNTY – A 36-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested June 19 after a 10-mile police pursuit into Dodge County.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a deputy made a traffic stop around 8:17 p.m. on Interstate 41 northbound near Lost Arrow Road for an equipment violation on a vehicle. The sheriff's office said the driver gave a name for his identity, but didn't provide a valid driver's license or identification card.

While the deputy was trying to run the name in his squad car for driving status and warrants, the vehicle drove away at a high speed, initiating a pursuit.

The driver used a turn-around on the interstate and continued southbound into Dodge County. He lost control of the vehicle and entered the east ditch before regaining control, when he got back on the highway, pulled over and stopped. The deputy boxed in the vehicle and made a high-risk traffic stop, taking the driver into custody without further incident.

In addition to the driver, three passengers were in the vehicle, but no one was injured. The man's vehicle sustained minor damages from the "box-in" maneuver, and the squad car had no damage.

The suspect, whose name was not released, had a nationwide felony warrant for his arrest through probation and parole for more than a year. He was on parole for felon in possession of a firearm.

The suspect had provided a fake name and date of birth to the deputy at the initial traffic stop.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene.
