    Evans Evans dead at 91: Bonnie and Clyde star who was widow of acclaimed director John Frankenheimer passes away

    Actress Evans Evans has died aged 91.

    The star, who played the character Velma Davis in the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde alongside Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, passed away on Sunday, June 16. per an online obituary .

    Evans was married to The Manchurian Candidate director John Frankenheimer.

    She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on November 26, 1932.

    She lived in Sherman Oaks, California until her death.

    Evans wed Frankenheimer in 1963 with the pair married until his death aged 72 in 2002.

    Evans appeared in more than 25  film and television projects, including the 1961 Twilight Zone episode A Hundred Yards Over the Rim, the Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode The Big Score and the Alfred Hitchcock Hour S1 E4 I Saw the Whole Thing as Penny Sanford (1962).

    She landed her breakthrough role as Velma alongside screen icon Gene Wilder.

    The pair played a couple who while kissing on their front porch, realize thieves are stealing his car.

    Evans also starred on Broadway in 1957's  The Dark at the Top of the Stairs followed by  A Distant Bell and The 49th Cousin in 1960.

    She was husband Frankenheimer's third wife. His first spouse was Joanne Evans,

    After their divorce he marriedCarolyn Miller in 1954 and they had two daughters together.

    He first met Evans when she acted in his 1962 feature film All Fall Down and they wed in 1963.
