Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers Queen have an extensive and lengthy catalog full of memorable hit songs and albums. In recent years, many classic artists have begun to sell the rights to their music catalogs for some hefty money.

Bruce Springsteen reportedly got $500 million for his tunes. Michael Jackson’s estate sold half of his catalog for a reported $600 million. Queen, however, has topped them all, selling their catalog for a staggering $1.27 billion according to Variety . The deal includes all songs, logos, music videos, merchandise, publishing and other business opportunities. The only revenue not in the deal is the money the band makes on live performances, which they will retain.

Queen formed in 1971. Their mega-hits include “We Will Rock You”, “We Are The Champions”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “Somebody To Love” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” among several others. Original lead singer and rock icon Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 from complications due to AIDS. The band has been fronted by former “American Idol” contestant Adam Lambert since 2011.
