Repurposing old products is not just a trend; it is also one of the best ways to save things from the landfill while adding unique touches to your space. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a good DIY project that also gives us bragging rights?

And that is where Rosie, the TikTok creator behind Rosie'sRustics, comes in. This talented lady recently shared a project that has everyone buzzing. She combined an old metal milk jug, a wood round, and a bit of spray paint to create what might be the cutest side table we've seen in a long time. If you’re itching to get started on a similar project, you're in luck because we’re breaking down Rosie's process step-by-step.

    First things first:

Where Can You Find Old Metal Milk Jugs?

These vintage pieces can often be found at thrift stores, old estate sales , and even garage sales. Sometimes, you might get lucky and find one in your grandparent's attic or some abandoned out-building.

Once you get your hands on one, the first step is to give it a thorough cleaning. It's essential to remove any rust spots to help make sure that your creation will last. You can use a mixture of vinegar and baking soda to scrub off rust—or you can go for a commercial rust remover if you prefer.

After cleaning, Rosie gave her milk jug a makeover with some metal and outdoor-friendly spray paint from Rustoleum . She chose a bright, poppy red color that instantly gave the jug a vintage, retro vibe. The transformation was already impressive, but Rosie wasn't done yet.

Next comes the wood round. Rosie selected a wood round and gave it a good sanding to eliminate any pointy bits or splinters. Sanding is crucial for achieving a polished look and preventing any injuries later on. After sanding, she stained the wood to enhance its natural beauty. The final touch was to apply a bit of liquid nails inside the lip of the milk jug and press the wood round firmly on top. Voila! A charming side table was born.

And there you have it, folks! A cute, simple side table made from practically nothing. Rosie’s project is not only a testament to creativity but also a reminder of how repurposing materials can result in something beautiful and functional. If you try out this DIY—or something similar—make sure to share your results. Who knows? You might just inspire someone else to turn trash into treasure.
