ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Tuesday is the state primary. Democrat Claire Cousin is trying to unseat longtime Assembly member Didi Barrett in the 106th district.

The activist and Columbia County Board of Supervisors member says her focus is on issues that working families face, like herself. “As a candidate, I’m facing housing insecurities throughout this campaign, I’ve had trouble paying my utility bills,” said Cousin.

She adds, “I am a working class person that comes from working class parent. I’ve seen all the struggles that people are asking for support around is what we’re basing this campaign around.” Cousin says her lived experience has resonated with people in the district.

Cousin sat down with News10 to discuss the issues facing the 106th district.
