Daytime alum Jesse Lee Soffer (Will, As The World Turns ) had a great run as Detective Jay Halstead on NBC’s Chicago P.D., but after 10 seasons, the actor chose to exit the show and made his final appearance in the Oct. 5, 2022 episode. While he did return to direct some episodes of the series, Soffer is now getting back in front of the camera as he joins CBS’ FBI: International for season four!

TV Lin e is reporting that Soffer’s character is set to replace the departing Luke Kleintank (ex-Noah, The Young & The Restless) on FBI: International, though his role has yet to be revealed. Despite the fact that both NBC’s “One Chicago” and CBS’ FBI shows technically share a universe (Chicago P.D.’s Hailey Upton crossed over to FBI in 2020), Soffer will not be playing Halstead on FBI: International but an entirely new character.

Soffer broke into show business as a child, appearing in the films Matinee , Safe Passage , The Brady Bunch Movie , and A Very Brady Sequel . He actually made his daytime debut as Max Nickerson on CBS soap Guiding Light but left after four months. From 2004-2008, Soffer starred on ATWT as Will Munson and his performances earned him three Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor.

When Soffer announced his departure from Chicago P.D., he told TV Line it was his decision to leave. “I really wanted to grow up and expand, and we’ve only got this one trip,” he explained. “If I signed up again, it would have been for another three years. I would have turned 40 on the show. I thought, ‘You know what? It’s time to take a risk.’”

Now, two years later, he’s back in the Dick Wolf television universe with a new role on FBI: International! The series has been renewed through 2027, though a premiere date for the fourth season has yet to be announced. So keep an eye out!
