Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, and having your loved ones present makes the experience all the more meaningful. If you're a parent, it's only natural to want your children involved in the ceremony. The only potential drawback? Kids aren't particularly predictable!

A recent video of a 12-year-old named Declan in Scotland speaking at his mother's wedding is going viral for the speech's hilariously shocking content...and it appears no one was more surprised by what the boy said than mom! He starts out by affectionately giving his new stepdad a hard time, and by the end, he's calling for all the guests to start drinking heavily!

As Declan's mother, Leah, told The Scottish Sun, she wasn't planning on having her son give a speech at her wedding, but after his grandfather spoke, Declan "got inspired and requested a chance to speak."

"Just before my dad's speech ended, he whispered to me, 'Mum, can I say something as well?' so I was like, 'Absolutely.' He is such an outgoing, wee boy when he is just with me and Grant or with his dad Eddie and stepmum Kirsty. But when he is in a crowd or with strangers he is painfully shy, so it was a huge surprise he wanted to say something."

Leah also said she had "no idea" Delcan was going to say what he said, but that's "just Declan."

Declan was definitely a hit with wedding guests (and the internet at large!).

How to Make Your Children a Part of Your Wedding Ceremony

Luckily, there are lots of ways you can include your kids in your wedding ceremony besides handing them a microphone, according to The Knot. Depending on their age, you can even make let them be in the wedding party.

"There's no rule that says your bridal party has to be all adults, so why not let your kids be bridesmaids or groomsmen? This idea works especially well if your children are older than 10, the typical age cutoff for flower girls and ring bearers. If they're younger, they can serve as junior bridesmaids and groomsmen. Either way, they get to participate in pre-wedding activities like the bridal shower and maybe even the PG portion of the bachelor and bachelorette parties; on the day-of, they can dress like your bridesmaids and groomsmen."

Another idea that's sure to get an emotional response is to make your children part of your vows.

"Recognizing your kids in the vows is an easy way to make them feel included and special. It's also important to remind them that you're committing to being a family and not just gaining a spouse. Engrave a gift with quotes from your vows for them or hang a pretty calligraphed version in your home afterward."

And if things start getting a little dull, you can always ask your kid to make a speech!
