Joan Collins Poses In Photo Alongside Rarely Seen Daughter Katyana Kass

While her illustrious career has been well-documented in 80 years-long career, Joan Collins does not often shine a spotlight on her personal life. That made it all the more remarkable when she recently appeared in a sweet photo alongside her daughter, Katyana Kass.

Married five times, Collins is the mother of three children. They are writer, broadcaster, and producer Tara Newley and artist Alexander Newley, both of whom she shares with actor Anthony Newley, as well as Katyana, who she had with businessman and film producer Ron Kass. Here is the latest on this mother-daughter duo.

This week, Collins took to Instagram twice to celebrate Katyana on her special day. First, she shared a lead-up to the festivities, saying, “Wishing my beautiful #daughter katyana.kass a very #happybirthday tomorrow.” The post is accompanied by an image of 91-year-old Collins with her arm wrapped affectionately around Katyana as they stand before a grand set of decorative bookshelves.

The following day, Collins sealed the deal with another birthday message for Katyana. “Happy birthday Gemini daughter,” she cheered in the captions. “Wonderful birthday celebration with my darling Katy, Percy, Barry Langford, @umairasanti and @_louise_faulkner_.”

The famous family

Tara and Alexander occupy the spotlight a lot more than Katyana, in part by the very nature of their work. In addition to Tara working as a journalist and screenwriter, and Alexander building a name for himself as a portraitist, both are published authors.

“Motherhood was really exciting and I love every minute of it,” Collins gushed of motherhood. “What makes me happiest is seeing my children happy. Honestly, life makes me happy and I’m very aware of how lucky I am.”

The more reclusive Katyana is 52 years old. Back when she was eight, Katyana had been involved in a near-fatal accident that Collins called the “worst thing that ever happened.” She went into detail of the tragedy in the This Is Joan Collins documentary. “She was knocked down by a car and sustained very serious brain injuries and I was told that she was going to die,” Collins revealed. “She was in a coma for a very long time.”
