Having the opportunity to witness a pet's life from the beginning is such a gift — and sometimes, it's easy to forget just how rare that opportunity really is. When most of us are adopting pets, even as puppies and kittens, they're typically at least eight weeks old before we can bring them home. So unless you're a breeder, work with animals, or happen to have a pregnant dog or cat at home, you may never get to see what a newborn kitten or puppy looks like in person.
But thankfully, we have the internet for that... and after watching this TikTok video, I am very grateful. And judging by everyone else freaking out over these kittens in the comments, it looks like I am definitely not the only one!
On Tuesday, June 18, breeder @wildmane_mainecoons shared this sweet footage of a litter of Maine Coon kittens who were born at her cattery this week — and their very proud mom!
"Honey had 3 beautiful and healthy babies in the middle of the night. She did so well and is the best mama to these babies," she wrote.
The video shows the kittens in the first hour of their lives, and of course, their eyes aren't even open yet! They're pawing around, trying to figure out what's going on, and Honey really is taking her mama duties seriously, already trying to clean them and fuss over them. Meanwhile, the kittens were stumbling around, sometimes even running into each other, and they're so small that they can fit in one hand!
These kitty cats are clearly going to be well taken care of with this mama around — and did anyone else notice how sweetly they snuggled up together to go to sleep at the end of the video?
An Update on the Maine Coon Kittens
The kittens' breeder has been sharing updates on them on TikTok during their first week of life, and it looks like they're getting stronger by the day!
And more mischievous, honestly. In this video , we can see that there's plenty of personality to go around as one kitty is not afraid to push his brother away so that he can nurse. Shameless!
In another video , they can be seen peacefully sleeping in a pile together, which is so cute, don't get me wrong... but my favorite update so far might be the one she shared at the five day mark . Seeing how much Honey is loving her babies is just too much.
Fingers crossed for more updates soon. I need to know how these kittens are doing!
