PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — Those itchy eyes and runny noses seem to be back with a vengeance as the temperatures warm up. Allergies are nothing to sneeze at – especially when pollen counts are high.

The peak season for these allergies are June through September. Instead of being shut in on pretty days, Dr. Anjum Rana recommends that people who have a history of allergies should take extra precautions…even when inside.

Allergy season arrived early in US. Here’s how to keep pollen from ruining your spring

“On windy days, there’s more pollen in the air. When it is a dry day, there is more pollen in the air. During that time, if they can, keep the windows closed,” said Dr. Rana.

Common allergens such as mold and ragweed pollen are more active in the summertime. Some tips to lessen the effects of allergies include taking a shower after going outdoors and wearing a face covering when outside.
