Authorities on Thursday publicly named a man who died after a stabbing this week during an argument with a woman in Oak Park.

Officers responding to a report of a possible assault in the 2500 block of Euclid Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Monday found Son Dinh, 50, of San Diego lying on a sidewalk, bleeding from at least one stab wound to his upper body, according to police.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.

Though exactly how the victim’s death came about was not clear, San Diego Police Department homicide detectives were called in to take charge of the case.

“It is still early in the investigation, and little is known about the circumstances leading up to the (stabbing),” Lt. Steve Shebloski said Thursday afternoon.

What detective have learned, he said, is that “there was some type of argument between the (victim) and a (woman) that occurred in a vehicle they were in. During that argument, a knife was present, and the (man) suffered a fatal stab wound … Currently, the (woman’s) role in this incident is still being evaluated.”
