HARTINGTON, Neb. (KCAU) — Plans for a grandstand expansion in Cedar County, Nebraska are moving forward thanks to a big grant.

The Cedar County Fair received a $50,000 hometown grant from T-Mobile. They were awarded the grant at the Big Hair Brewhaus Thursday night.

The money will be used to complete phase two of the grandstand project. That includes ADA upgrades to the venue’s seating in order to increase the accessibility, inclusivity, and safety of visitors.

“We’ve very excited to see that we can go ahead on some of these projects that take a lot of effort to get put together,” Cedar County Fair president Greg Heine said. “So this just a big step to help us move just one step forward and getting our bleachers and getting some ADA seating for our grandstands.”

“We want to give back to the communities that we serve and really be part of watching those communities thrive,” Katy Van Noy, rural marketing manager at T-Mobile Nebraska, said. “It means a lot to us to be able to help provide that experience. I guess this fair’s been going on for over a hundred years, and it gets bigger and bigger every year. So we love to be a part of that growth.”

Heine said the plan is to have the new expansion be up by next year’s county fair.
