Hormone Specialist Lists Top Foods for Detoxing the Liver

Our modern lifestyles and diets don't appear to have made humans healthier. Even though many products we find at the supermarket are often labeled as "natural" or "heart smart," we are not living longer or without disease. Adding to the frustration is that they don't prevent our waistlines from expanding, either.
Many of these issues are often due to unbalanced hormones in the body and our overburdened liver. This vital organ plays a crucial role in our overall well-being. Check out this video from June 17 to hear why adding a particular group of foods may lead you to better health.
It's a pleasant surprise to learn that our morning cup of Joe is actually beneficial! Dr. Pelz (@ drmindypelz ) enlightens us about the liver's need for a specific group of foods, known as bitter foods , to detoxify effectively. The best part is that these foods are easy to include in our daily routines, and they can have a significant impact on our health.
Radicchio. This mild and leafy purple veggie is a great addition to a salad and can be used as a healthy alternative to a burger bun. Dr. Pelz also suggests using it with turkey and grass-fed cheese, creating a delicious and nutritious wrap. This is a fantastic high-protein snack or lunch idea that can help in our liver detoxification journey.
Dandelion greens. Her preferred way to consume them is to cut them up and add them to a mixed salad.
Ginger. For this spicy root, she prefers to have it freshly pressed and added to tea. Another way to use it is to cut it up and put it into a smoothie. It may also help to improve immunity and digestion and may be beneficial for reducing inflammation.
Lemons . They're another terrific food that helps our livers function optimally. They contain ample vitamin C and can help us stay hydrated, which could even aid in the prevention of kidney stones.
Clean coffee . Meaning it is organic without chemicals or molds. This drink, she tells us, can help support the liver because it dilates. This can help open up the liver and move the toxins out instead of forwarding them to the belly, where they are stored as fat.
My favorite way to incorporate two of these bitter foods is to make homemade Gatorade , which uses lemons and ginger. This natural sports drink can be made in a big batch and enjoyed for a week. With many warm summer days still ahead, it's a great way to stay hydrated and help your liver function at its best.
