    Peterson named parade marshal for Logging & Heritage Fest

    MARINETTE — Dan Peterson has been named parade marshal for the 12th annual Logging and Heritage Festival. As parade marshal, Peterson will lead this year’s parade down Riverside Avenue in the City of Marinette starting at noon July 14. He was chosen by the Logging and Heritage Festival Committee for his community service and positive leadership.

    Peterson is the Executive Board Chairman of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust (SNBT). Though he has retired from his day-to-day banking role, he will continue to work part time out of the Menominee office for the next two years and then fully retire from the Executive Chairman role and become the bank’s Chairman of the Board. He joined the bank 1988 and throughout his tenure, became experienced in all lending areas of the bank including head of the commercial loan department in 2003 and member of SNBT senior management in 2004. Finally, he was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2006 before assuming the current role of President & CEO in 2013.

    In 2022, after having served on the board of the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) for three years, he was elected to a one-year term as board chair. In addition, Peterson has previously served on the American Bankers Association Community Bankers Council.

    A De Pere native, Peterson is a graduate of Abbott Pennings High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Norbert College. In addition, he has completed numerous professional courses through WBA, including the General Banking School, Commercial Lending School, and its two-year Leadership Program. He also completed the rigorous three-year Graduate School of Banking Course at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He previously served on the WBA Bank Execs Advisory Board and the Board for FIPCO (Financial Institution Products Corporation), a subsidiary of WBA.

    He is a past winner of the SNBT WINGS Award (Worthy Individual Noted for Generous Service); which is an award that recognizes the exceptional individual community service efforts of a bank employee.

    In addition, he is a past recipient of the bank’s Award of Excellence, an award given annually to employees who demonstrate excellence in customer service, reliability, responsiveness to customers’ and bank employees’ needs, superior job knowledge, professionalism, motivation and productivity.

    Peterson has served on the board of directors for many local non-profit organizations and is currently the president of the Peshtigo Lion’s Club and USS Marinette Commissioning Committee. He has been very active in community organizations and his volunteerism throughout the years has included: Chair of the Marinette County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC), board member of the Marinette County Association for Business and Industry, member of the Northern Anglers, Lake Michigan Fisheries Forum and board member of the M&M Great Lakes Sport Fisherman’s Club, St. Thomas Aquinas Academy trustee, Goodwill Industries board member, St. Mary’s Total Board of Catholic Education president and Marinette Catholic Central Foundation president.

    Peterson and his wife Barbara reside in Porterfield and have two grown sons, two daughters-in- law and seven grandchildren.
