C-Mac goes off on narrative that Yankees can't beat good teams

After the Yankees dropped another series to the Orioles on Thursday, many Yankee fans lamented the team’s record against top teams so far this season, pointing to their 2-5 record against the O’s and series losses to the Dodgers and Red Sox.

C-Mac doesn’t dispute the fact that the Yankees have fell to some of the best teams in the league, but he says the narrative that the Bombers can’t beat good teams is simply not true, and some fans seem to leave out games just to fit their narrative.

“Those are all facts, but you’re leaving out good teams, and you’re putting in the Red Sox strictly because they lost the series,” C-Mac said, noting that Boston was barely above .500 when the two teams met last weekend. “They would not be on there.

“You can’t tell me the first four games against Houston were meaningless…they’re four games under .500. Would you be surprised if they’re a playoff team? I wouldn’t be. And they’re dealing with injuries that have all taken place after the four-game set against the Yankees. So that series doesn’t matter?”

Not only did the Yanks bludgeon their long-time nemesis in Houston to start the season, but they have also beat other first-place teams that seem to be conveniently overlooked.

“We include the good teams? The Guardians are 20 games over .500,” C-Mac said. “I don’t care what division they play in. they’re 20 games over .500. Include that series. Just be fair about it.

“They beat Cleveland. They beat the Royals. They’re in a Wild Card position right now. They beat the Brewers, who are in first place. They beat the Diamondbacks, who were in the World Series last year and are back in a Wild Card spot not.

“If they lost to the Milwaukee Brewers, you bet your ass they would be on that list.”
