Humor can be an essential tool in staying sane as a parent. Whether your kid is cranky and you're trying to lighten the mood or you're just attempting to keep yourself entertained, it's all about finding something funny in your situation. And if there isn't anything funny, that just means you have to access your inner comedian!

In a hilarious video posted on June 20, three kids are buckled into the backseat of a car and mom is in the driver's seat. It's just an average, everyday scenario...except that the mom is wearing a ski mask, because — as she tells her children — they're on their way to rob a bank. Apparently, the kids have been asking for lots of stuff lately, and mom has to find a way to pay for it all!

We need a follow-up video from @chrisshaysofunny where the kids find out mom was joking ! Commenters were cracking up over their reactions, especially the daughter sitting in the middle of her siblings.

"The one in the middle ain't with the mess," wrote E.Roze H.

"The girl in the middle be like 'i have no choice,'" wrote panicpoint.

"Not the middle baby looking like she was in at first," wrote Radioactivehoney.

Those kids will definitely never forget the day their mom turned to a life of crime ! If you're tempted to pull a similar prank on your own little one, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

    Should You Prank Your Kids?

Whether or not a child will be able to handle and appreciate a prank depends largely on how old they are. According to The Conversation, "kids over the age of four or five should be able to understand a prank."

Plus, "up to about the age of 12 when their frontal lobe kicks in, children lack the capacity for critical reasoning. They are [not] yet to be able to analyze multiple options, assess credibility or reliability and make a reasoned decision. This leaves them quite gullible, relying almost completely on what their parents or trusted carers tell them. So between four and 12, kids are ripe to be pranked and may even pull a few of their own."

When done well, pranking can be funny for everybody involved and can even help you to bond with your kids. Plus, "most children don’t bear grudges once Santa and the tooth-fairy are outed. As their brains and understanding grow, so does their empathy and ability to see multiple intentions.

So if pranks are done with humor in mind , most children will be able to see this intention and won’t have feelings of mistrust towards their parents. In other words, they’re probably not going to think 'they lied about the whoopee cushion, what else are they lying about?'"

Of course, a bank robbery prank is a little more intense than a whoopee cushion, but it was still done "with humor in mind!"
