All the good things seem to be coming back around for those of us who experienced what childhood was like in the 1990s and early 2000s, and one program that we all loved to participate in has finally returned!

In commemoration of Camp Book It!’s 40th anniversary, Pizza Hut announced the return of its popular reading program that encouraged children nationwide to read so that they could be rewarded with pizza.

    Get Your Kids Signed Up

If you have fond memories of this program (didn't we all?), you'll want to sign your kids up for it right away!

Pizza Hut launched the Book It! program back in 1984 to empower parents and teachers to incentivize young kids to read. The program was aimed at students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Teachers and parents could enroll their classes or children in the program. Once enrolled, the adult set a monthly reading goal for the kids. Those goals could be based on the number of books read, the number of pages read, or the amount of time spent reading.

When the kids met their monthly reading goals, they received a certificate that could be redeemed at Pizza Hut for a free personal pan pizza. We loved those pizzas and this program's return is making us nostalgic.

    It's Happening Now

Just so there's no confusion- this program never really ended. It just wasn't advertised or widely used after the early 2000s, but we hop that's about to change!

This year’s incentive program will run from June through August with enrollment now open for both the summer program and the 2024-2025 school year program.

It’s free for both schools and parents for kids ages 4 through 12. After the summer program, kids can also participate in the school year version of the program, which runs from October 1 through March 31.

There is a limit to the pizza supply offer, so you will want to sign up quickly! Participants can earn only one free pizza each month while enrolled in the program, which amounts to nine free personal pan pizzas a year.

We think that this is about to be popular again, and with Pizza Hut's new offerings, like its four new tavern-style pizzas and tons of new sauce and topping options, your child can try a new pizza each month!

What better way to get your kids to read during summer break than to reward them with pizza? It's a win for everyone!
