A dog mom found a genius idea in convincing her adorable and large Dalmatian to go for a walk when he really didn't want to, and it's honestly so smart.

On June 11, 2024, TikTok user Tucker + Shannon (@tuckerandshannon) shared a video of her super smart and hilarious way she gets her big dog to go for a walk. Take a look!

In only eight seconds , we learn two things about this mom and dog pair: the mom is really resourceful and great at solving problems, and the doggy is very predictable.

"Bribing my lazy Dalmatian to go on a walk with a rotisserie chicken," the text on the screen reads. And that's exactly what Shannon is doing with her pup, Tucker.

She's holding a bag with a fully cooked rotisserie chicken. She's holding the bag just out of her dog's nose reach so he can smell it but is slowly chasing in at a walking pace.

The potential promise of being able to eat some of that great-smelling rotisserie chicken is what is convincing Tucker to get in his daily steps.

"Yes, I have a broken Dalmatian," the text in the caption jokes because this dog breed is known for being really high energy and one that requires a whole lot of exercise to burn off the buckets of energy they have.

People in the comments thought the idea was really genius, too. But they had a few questions.

"So do you have to buy a new chicken for every walk? Do you have a designated rotisserie walking chicken? I need to know," one person asked.

"Food-motivated dogs are kind of easy to train or motivate," another added.

"Mine would just sit until you open the bag or give him some," shared someone else.

"Honestly this would work on me, too," another joked.

"Dog equivalent of dangling a carrot," wrote someone else.

How Much Exercise Does a Dalmatian Need?

Dalmatians are big dogs and they require a lot of exercise to burn off all their energy. If you're looking for a dog that doesn't need to spend a lot of time running around, a Dalmatian probably isn't the best choice in the breed.

According to PDSA , Dalmatians are full of energy, despite Tucker needing a big chicken nudge to get him to go for his exercise. " Dalmatians are full of energy and like to be on the go as much as possible so they suit active families with enough time for their needs," the site explained.

"Dalmatians are so high energy they need a minimum of two hours of exercise every day," the site explains. Yes, that's two hours every single day. And it needs to be done in "at least two walks, ideally with a chance to run in a secure area."

Plus, these dogs are very intelligent as well, and they will also need time to train, run, play, and solve puzzles to burn energy thinking.

Unless you're Tucker, though. Then maybe try some chicken.
