Woman Takes IKEA Bench from 'Basic' to Baller by Adding One Major Touch

When we see a lot of IKEA upgrades, the finished product still basically resembles the footprint of the IKEA structure they started with, just a little dressed up or repurposed.

However, one woman figured out a way to give her IKEA piece a major glow up, and it hardly resembles the boring old bench she started out with. Now that we know how to do this for ourselves, there's no way we're ever going back to the basic IKEA benches again!

Who says your IKEA furniture has to look basic? 😍 Steal this KALLAX to country-chic storage bench hack from Frenchic Fan Kayleigh (over at @do.it.yourself.mum) and give your lack-lustre laminate a more luxe look with a fresh new function! Kayleigh used palette boards around the base, scaffolding boards for the top and brought the piece to life with our neutral quirky khaki shade 'Funky Dora' from the self priming and self sealing The Lazy Range. 🤩 Finishing the bare wood off fabulously with Frenchic 'Browning Wax' to add an aged, rustic look! Who's feeling inspired? We certainly are! 🥳 ℹ️ Did you know? All the Frenchic ranges are suitable for use on glossy surfaces like laminate. The glossier a surface, the more thoroughly you will need to sand as part of your surface prep - this will ensure an effective 'key' to maximise adherence. #FrenchicAustralia #Frenchicpaint #paintslikeadream #bestpaintintheworld #chalkpaint #hastobeFrenchic #Upcycling #BeforeAndAfter #reno #paint #transformation #furniturepaint #budgetdecor #DIYTips #kallaxhack #furniture #ikeahack

There's something to be said for the rustic look that @frenchicaus creates when she adds a bit of wood touches to her IKEA bench. Not only does it seriously dress up the bench, but it makes it almost unrecognizable as an IKEA product.

Not that there's anything wrong with IKEA furniture (we're obviously huge fans of the store), but it just goes to show you what a big difference even the most random changes can make when you're working with something like this!

We love a good IKEA upgrade . Not only does IKEA sell affordable furniture so many people with lower budgets can outfit their homes, but they have such great bones that you can transform them into so many different things!

    Woman Upgrades IKEA Side Table

When one woman couldn't find the side tables of her dreams, she took an old table and made them! Of course, she had to use some IKEA essentials to get it done, like the Beistelltisch table , which she used as a base before topping it off with the real wood from the old coffee table.

In the end she had two gorgeous tables that looked like they came from a department store, instead of a set that had been cobbled together out of several different pieces of furniture!

IKEA's AI Took Helps Design Your Home

But that doesn't mean that you need to DIY your IKEA pieces to have something worthwhile. There are plenty of awesome pieces of furniture there, you just need to figure out how to make them working your space.

Fortunately, there's an ap for that! IKEA has recently rolled out their new AI tool that will help you imagine what IKEA pieces will look like when you put them in your home. The technology allows you to take a real photo of your room to use, or to enter in the schematics of an empty room so you can plan from scratch.

Woman's IKEA Bench Update Looks Amazing

We're seriously obsessed with this idea and can't wait to try it (and other variations of it) out for ourselves.

Who knows, this may be our favorite IKEA hack yet!
