When Netflix first made the dive into original content creation, they told compelling stories as documented in House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black. Now that they’re more established, the streaming giant has become a leader in other genres, such as reality TV. After the wild success of projects like Love Is Blind and Too Hot To Handle, they’ve further expanded their content library with shows like Perfect Match, which debuted its second season on Netflix this month. After taking us to Playa Bonita, Panama in the first edition, the second round of the series explores North America’s tropical paradise. Host Nick Lachey and crew have welcomed back familiar favorites from other unscripted shows on the streamer, including Harry Jowsey, Stevan Ditter, Nigel Jones, Elys Hutchinson and Holly Scarfone.
Seeing as they didn’t successfully find love on their first try, Netflix is giving them another shot at connecting with “the one” while millions watch on at home. The first four episodes revealed that romance is brewing between Jowsey and Jessica Vestal, though other couples appear to be on the rocks now that other people are entering the villa. Besides wondering who will end up together when all is said and done, many viewers are asking – where was Perfect Match season 2 filmed? Not only are the cast’s accommodations incredible, but there have also been must-see tourist destinations in Mexico unveiled along the way. Read on to find out how you can reach the shooting locations on your trip to Tulum, and how much is reportedly costs to spend a night in the villa.
The Villa: Hacienda del Mar Puerto Aventuras

Key Scenes: To give Netflix more control of their surroundings, most of the filming for the reality series took place at a stunning villa in Tulum, including cast member introductions and important relationship milestones.
Best Time to Visit: In November and December, Tulum temperatures are known to be milder and crowds are much smaller than in the late winter and early spring.
Transportation Options: The Cancum Airport is about 90 minutes from the Puerto Aventuras villa; you can book your ride here. There are a number of must-see tourist destinations just a short walk away, and guests can request transportation services along with their stay at an additional cost.
Though it didn’t air until late spring 2024, it’s been a year since the filming for Perfect Match took place in Tulum. The finale is set to air on June 21st, but Netflix has yet to confirm where they brought their reality stars. Miraculously, sleuths at Distractify unearthed the Hacienda del Mar online, which looks uncannily similar to the villa seen on screen. It’s located on the shores of Fatima Bay, boasting 15 bedrooms, 16.5 baths and a 37-foot outdoor heated swimming pool. Now that shooting for the show has wrapped, the general public can rent out the luxurious spot, though rates start at over $7,000/night.
Where to Eat: During filming, the Perfect Match season 2 cast dined at several local hotspots, including Charlie’s (known for great Mexican food and a lively atmosphere) and Rivera’s Kitchen, which is a more cozy option serving international cuisine and offering cooking classes. Elsewhere, they visited The OG’s to get their coffee fix and loved the traditional drinks at Mamazul Tulum Mezcaleria.
Where to Stay: If you and your travel companions can afford the hefty fee, you can book a stay at Hacienda del Mar here. Other highly rated options in the area to consider (both all-inclusive) are the Dreams Aventuras Rivera Maya and Heaven at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Escultura Ven a la Luz in Ahau Tulum

Key Scenes: Used for some of the Perfect Match season 2 cast’s dates around Tulum, adding to the romantic atmosphere.
Best Time to Visit: Those who plan on snapping photos at the local landmark will have a better experience if they arrive at opening time, 9 AM, to avoid a queue.
Transportation Options: Tulum has no public buses, so you can reach Ven a La Luz by foot, car, bike or colectivo. A parking lot is nearby for those who opt to drive, though spots are limited and it can be costly. Taxi drivers are familiar with the area and are probably the best option to avoid any stress.
The art scene coupled with the views in Tulum will have you pulling out your camera constantly. Daniel Popper’s Ven a La Luz is a standout sculpture that represents the harmony between humans and nature and has become a popular destination for snapping romantic photos or enjoying scenic walks. It used to be free, but now admission to the area where the sculpture is located costs $4 American. Described as “one of the most Instagrammable spots in Mexico,” you won’t want to miss your chance to see Popper’s work in person.
Things to Do: Give yourself a beauty treatment at the Mayan Clay Spa, less than a mile from your original destination, or head underwater with Mexidivers Tulum‘s numerous adventure options.
Where to Eat: You can’t leave Mexico without dining at Aua De Mar – visitors rave about their flavorful tacos and burritos endlessly.
Key Scenes: One reason why people love Perfect Match season 2 so far is the awesome challenges stars have competed in on their quest for love, one of which takes place at the Tulum Jungle Gym.
Best Time to Visit: Like the aforementioned sculpture, the best time to visit this tourist favorite is when they open at 9 AM if you’re hoping to avoid crowds and long lines.
Transportation Options: It’s a two-minute walk from the Ahau Hotel, which can be found on Google Maps, down to the beach zone.
If your ideal vacation involves taking a break from your fitness routine, you might want to skip out on the Tulum Jungle Gym, but if you find yourself missing those reps while in Mexico, you’ll love this outdoor workout. There are two locations in the area – one on the beach and another in the town. The latter charges a $30 drop-in fee and the former is $15 (half-price to visiting military, police and firefighters with proof of ID). Nearly all the equipment is made of wood, stone, bamboo and rope giving you one of the most unique sweat sessions of your life.
Where to Eat: Karma boasts a five-star rating and has Japanese Fusion and Mexican menu items, or you can find a taste of the Mediterranean at Ilios Greek Estiatorio.
Where to Stay: La Zebra Boutique Hotel has become a best seller among tourists, who love their attention to detail.
