President and Chief Executive Officer, Island Harvest Food Bank

Serving as president and CEO of Island Harvest Food Bank, Randi Shubin Dresner leads a team with a shared vision of a hunger-free Long Island. Dresner, who joined Island Harvest in 2001, leads the organization in tackling real-life issues by investigating and addressing the root causes of poverty, hunger and food insecurity, resulting in actionable, innovative programs that truly impact the Long Island community.

While Island Harvest distributes and supports more than 17 million pounds of food to Long Island neighbors in need, Dresner and her team are determined to do more than food distribution. In alignment with this objective, Island Harvest has formed robust advocacy efforts to advance its work and developed a Workforce Skills Development Institute. The organization has also created a “Food as Medicine” Program, which works in collaboration with clinics and hospitals and manages an organic farm, greenhouse and “Giving Gardens” across Long Island.

Before joining Island Harvest, Dresner enjoyed a successful career in various roles in the nonprofit sector. This included serving as a partner in a fundraising and development consulting firm and making her mark at several organizations, including The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, The Viscardi Center, The Heckscher Museum of Art and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

A lifelong Long Islander, Dresner is a member of the Energeia Partnership, an ethical leadership academy of Molloy University. She was an adjunct faculty member at Long Island University and Molloy University for 25 years and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from St. Joseph’s University, New York, in 2013.
