Deputy Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Long Island Contractors’ Association

Sheryl Buro holds the dual role of deputy executive director and CFO for the Long Island Contractors’ Association, a trade organization for the region’s highway and infrastructure professionals. A trailblazing leader in a predominantly male industry, Buro is highly respected among her peers. Her leadership helps guide advocacy efforts for the trade association’s member firms.

Buro is responsible for internal financial controls and the administration and monitoring of external financial matters, such as analyzing and auditing public works bids, contracts and municipal capital programs. Her responsibilities also include acting as the principal facilitator in collaborating with and assisting the association’s board of directors in setting priorities and strategic planning goals. She also spearheads the member services division of the organization. Other duties include overseeing labor relations issues involving multiple union collective bargaining agreements with the industry’s building trades. She also represents LICA at various charitable and community events, including serving as its spokesperson at many public events with elected officials and other community leaders.

Buro first joined LICA in 2009 as comptroller/office administrator, with responsibility for internal financial controls and administration and external financial matters affecting the construction industry.

For nearly a decade before joining LICA, Buro held several prestigious associate positions in the treasury, management reporting and analysis, and fund accounting departments at Ivy Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Bank of New York-Mellon. She also served as a senior account administrator at F.A. Spina & Co.

Buro holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Boston University.
