CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Tornado Watch is in effect for Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties until 8 p.m. Sunday night.

The 22News Storm Team Weather Alert continues through Sunday, for the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Hampden and Hampshire Counties until 7 p.m. Sunday, for Heat Index values around 95 to 105 degrees.

Skies will become partly sunny Sunday and showers and strong to possibly severe thunderstorms are likely during the afternoon. Some storms could bring strong damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, hail, and frequent lightning. Highs will be up around 90 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, the locations for the tornado watch include Massachusetts, Western Maine, New Hampshire, Northeast New York, and Vermont.

Some relief from the excessive heat and humidity is on the way for Monday. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with the chance for a spot shower or two. Highs will be in the lower 80s and dew points dropping down into the 50s.

Tuesday will see sunshine through the daylight hours with highs back in the high 80s to low 90s.
