Fokker Services Americas (a subsidiary of Fokker Services Group or “FSG”) had two big announcements last week in a company press release. The aviation repair company announced a sustainable upgrade of their repair facility in LaGrange and a sponsorship of students involved in the Greenpower Racing at THINC College & Career Academy.

The unveiling of this partnership will coincide with the celebration of FSG (Americas)’s newly upgraded sustainable aviation repair facility.

The company upgrade will include state-of-the-art solar panels. Partnering with FSG are Principle Construction and Turner Services. According to the release, the companies are known, “For spearheading sustainable initiatives such as solar energy installations on rooftops and canopies, electric vehicle charging stations, and wind-powered generators at prominent institutions like Emory University, Hewlett Packard, and Mercedes Benz Stadium.”

“With innovative solar panels and intelligent energy management systems, we’re harnessing the sun’s power to propel our operations into the future,” Winter elaborated. By transitioning to solar energy, FSG will be significantly reducing its carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. This not only benefits their business but also contributes to a healthier planet for future generations.”

Set to take place on June 27th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the event will feature a display of electric vehicles by Lagrange area car dealerships. Attendees can also enjoy an array of local food trucks, adding flavor to the festivities.

FSG’s sponsorship underscores its commitment to fostering innovation and advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education among young minds and sustainability.

The Greenpower USA Foundation aims to advance the understanding of STEM topics and inspire innovation in young people through the immersive experience of designing, building, and racing electric-powered vehicles.

By sponsoring and participating in this initiative, THINC students will not only gain invaluable hands-on experience but also develop crucial skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and project management.

“We are thrilled to sponsor THINC in their submission to the Greenpower USA Foundation,” said Craig Winter, President of Fokker Services Group Americas. “This sponsorship represents a significant opportunity to support students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world challenges and to make a tangible impact in the field of STEM.”
