CNN anchor Chris Wallace straight-up asked TV star Judge Judy Sheindlin her assessment of former President Donald Trump as president — and got a long pause before the answer.
Wallace interviewed Judge Judy for this week’s edition of his Max series Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, including one exchange in which she defended Trump over his felony convictions.
She called the charges “nonsense,” and told Wallace “That’s my view. and that is a view shared by a lot of people, but they won’t say it to you publicly. Because they’ll say oh, she must be a Trumpster. That’s not true.”
Tt was a different story when Wallace asked “What do you think of Donald Trump?” and specifically “What do you think of him as President of the United States?”:
WALLACE: Right. What do you think of Donald Trump?
JUDGE JUDY: What do I think of him? (Pause) I think he was a good businessman, a real estate guy. And he was certainly terrific on The Apprentice.
Terrific entertaining. He has a perspective.
WALLACE: What do you think of him as President of the United States?
JUDGE JUDY: I don’t think that Donald ever should have been president, and I don’t think that even Donald thought he was going to be president. I don’t think so.
It was a personality contest between the two of them. I mean, at the time that Donald ran, he ran against someone who people, said do I like him better or her better. (He or Hillary) Right.
And believe it or not, believe it or not. If we’re saying all the elections are right, people said with all his Billy Bush, and with all the womanizing and with Ivana and the divorce and the skiing, whatever it is, I know where he’s coming from.
That’s what people say, I know where he’s coming from. Now, that may may or may not be the truth.
