Kaitlin Olson’s ABC Drama ‘High Potential’ Hires ‘The Resident’ EP As New Showrunner

Kaitlin Olson ‘s forthcoming ABC drama series High Potential has hired a new showrunner after Rob Thomas ( Veronica Mars ) exited the role earlier this month.

The series will now see Todd Harthan, an executive producer of Fox ’s medical drama The Resident , serving as showrunner according to Deadline .

High Potential is currently on a planned production pause and is scheduled to resume filming in July.

Olsen, who is known for starring in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Mick , plays a single mother who works as an office cleaner.

While cleaning a police precinct, her character helps solve a difficult case alongside a detective (Daniel Sunjata) after rearranging some of the evidence. She then partners with the detective to work on additional cases.

Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes also star in the series created by Drew Goddard and based on a French series.

High Potential is slated to air on Tuesday nights in the fall and is only one of two first-year scripted shows in ABC’s fall lineup. The other is the Ryan Murphy -produced Dr. Odyssey .

The show is produced by ABC Signature and executive produced by Harthan as well as Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles; Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company; and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company. Olson serves as a producer.

In addition to The Resident , Harthan has worked as a writer and producer on ABC’s The Company You Keep , Fox’s Rosewood and USA Network’s Psych .
