More Information Reported Regarding Kayla Braxton’s Upcoming WWE Departure

On Saturday, WWE backstage interviewer Kayla Braxton took to social media to announce that she is departing the company following next week’s episode of SmackDown. And while she wouldn’t share details regarding her plans, Fightful Select has since reported that she has been working under a verbal agreement, and that AEW has been made aware of her employment status.

“Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that Braxton is currently working for the company under a verbal agreement between the two sides following her WWE deal expiring recently. The two sides have been discussions, but we’re not told what came of them. We’re told AEW had been made aware of her contract status a couple of weeks ago, but we aren’t sure if that was due to direct communication between Becker/ an agent, or AEW.”

There had recently been speculation regarding the 33-year-old’s future with the company after she updated her X username to include her legal name. Yet, no further information was available at the time, and fans quickly moved on. However, it now appears her next career move could be outside of the wrestling industry, as whether AEW would be interested in hiring her is unclear, given that they only just signed Alicia Atout.
