With Summer Game Fest 2024 finished, this week in mobile gaming looks ahead with HoYoverse announcing they will attend SDCC 2024, CoD Mobile deploys an event, and FFBE launches a live stream Sunday.
Summer Game Fest 2024 has officially wrapped, and after many games and announcements were made, mobile gaming has also received recognition at SGF 2024 and other big updates this week. The mobile developer and the creators of Among Us, Outersloth has announced a new initiative at SGF 2024 that funds other Indie Games and they’ve revealed a list of which games they are currently funding. Interestingly enough, there are two unannounced titles from their SGF 2024 announcement, so the developers could have more exciting announcements in the future.
This week, HoYoverse makes a big announcement, CoD Mobile launches an exciting mid-season Synthwave Showdown event providing new rewards, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is hosting a live stream event so we will share how to watch.
This Week in Mobile Gaming for June 22
HoYoverse is Making its San Diego Comic-Con 2024 Debut
All three of HoYoverse’s titles are headed to the West Coast this Summer as Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero , and Honkai: Star Rail debut at SDCC 2024. HoYoverse offers immersive themed booth experiences, exclusive merchandise, and exciting photo ops. Meanwhile, Genshin Impact will further extend the experience to the gallery at the Omni San Diego Hotel. The gallery will feature developer-created concept art of Genshin Impact characters, fan art featuring creative character outfit designs, and exclusive SDCC 2024 goodies.
Genshin Impact will be at booth #5500 at the San Diego Convention Center, and the Honkai: Star Rail & Zenless Zone Zero booth will be at #140 when SDCC 2024 takes place from July 25 to July 28.
Call of Duty: Mobile Goes 90’s with Synthwave Showdown
The next big event for the mobile gaming platform, Call of Duty: Mobile, is the 90’s dance aesthetic-inspired Synthwave Showdown! Diving into 90s party culture (and neon), this season six event brings a new Ground War experience, Advanced Frontline, a new Multiplayer map, a Battle Royale class, access to a custom 1v1 Quick Solo room for practice or bragging rights, and plentiful rewards and challenges. The trailer outlining the event can be seen below.
Synthwave Showdown includes free and premium items to earn and obtain; including new Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, Calling Cards, and additional Call of Duty Points to spend. The free battle pass side even includes the unlockable BP50 assault rifle. Notably, Call of Duty: Mobile has just added a custom 1v1 Quick Solo room allowing fans to duke it out and settle differences with mobile gaming. Synthwave Showdown launches on June 26, and fans can find more info on the CoD Blog .
Lastly, mobile gaming news concludes this week with an exciting Final Fantasy Brave Exvius livestream event celebrating its 8th anniversary. While not much else has been said aside from ‘an event is happening tomorrow’, fans can tune in by heading to the SQUARE ENIX Twitch channel on Sunday, June 23 at 10:00 p.m. ET for all of the announcements and developments for FFBE .
That just about wraps this week in mobile gaming. It’s also worth mentioning Fortnite is having a massive musical event this weekend, with “Metallica. Fuel. Fire. Fury.” Fans can head to the Fortnite article here on how to attend.
