What is an Aperol Spritz cake?

An Aperol Spritz is a popular Italian cocktail known for its refreshing and bittersweet flavors. It typically consists of Aperol (an Italian aperitif), Prosecco (Italian sparkling wine) and a splash of soda water. The cocktail is garnished with a slice of orange and served over ice, making it a perfect sip for summer.

Tips for making the best Aperol Spritz cake

While this dessert is super easy to make, here are some tips and tricks to guarantee yours comes out perfectly delicious:

    1. Use fresh oranges

You’ll always get the best flavor if you use fresh oranges. Squeeze out your own orange juice and zest, if possible. But if you want to save time, store-bought juice works too. (Learn how to use leftover orange peels !)

    2. Infuse the cake with Aperol

What really takes this treat over the top is the cake with Aperol soaked inside. For the most flavor, while the cake is still warm, poke small holes all over the surface with a skewer and brush it with Aperol.

    3. Perfect your glaze

Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar or liquid as needed. The glaze should be thick enough to coat the cake but not so runny that it drips off completely.
